Our work
The project supports 34 families, involving a total of 164 people from 2 rural communities of Santarenzinho and São Raimundo Nonato. Technical assistance and training in administration and finance have been provided to create the conditions for self-reliance, and development plans covering production and selling were defined and implemented. A “Management Group” designed to be the main governance body for the project has been set up and involves 16 local organizations alongside government institutions and civil organizations, thus ensuring that the local population takes ownership of the project. Besides, the project aims at controlling production processes enabling the producers to get required certification and access to institutional markets.
Key Impacts
34 families have already benefited from training on financial management and entrepreneurship as well as received assistance to improve their agricultural systems. This is expected to result in increased productivity and a better quality product, all allowing to charge higher selling price for their production and access new markets. In the next phase (March 2019 - February 2020), 25 additional families will join the project.

The project is also supported by other organisations and institutions, including Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (SEBRAE), Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente de Rurópolis (SEMMA), Empresa de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural do Estado do Pará (EMATER-PA), Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Rural (SENAR).

I was producing flour here for more than 30 years, in a house with a thatched roof and with insects falling down into the oven. Today, thanks to the project, I have a new flour house of another standard. The overall production process is improved and from now on, it will be easier for me to comply with the sanitary regulations.
